- 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet controller for VME, Multibus II and CompactPCI. Allows the use of 10BaseT or 100BaseTx with a slimline RJ45 connector. The chip is a highly integrated PCI single-chip bus master which supports direct memory access (DMA) and alleviates the Ethernet protocol load on the host CPU. Supporting ISO 8802-3 (IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u) the board has automatic retransmission, runt frame rejection and selection of received collision frames. - PMC Ethernet Adaptor: A two channel Fast Ethernet adaptor with 10Base-T and 100Base-TX capability. The improved networking performance of the CL PMC/551 is achieved through the use of two Intel® 82551QM Fast Ethernet controllers. The PMC-650 is an eight-port rugged Gigabit Ethernet Switch and is a part of a family of Gigabit Ethernet switching and routing products from Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. Enabling gigabit Ethernet connections of CPUs, cards, and chassis in VME or VPX systems, the PMC-650 is an ideal low cost solution for architecting simple Intra-Platform Networks (IPNs).
The PMC-650 is an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch packaged in the industry-standard PMC form factor. It provides wirespeed unmanaged Layer-2 switching capabilities and typically sits on any basecard with a PMC site (e.g. Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Single Board Computer (SBC), Carrier or a Custom card). Ethernet interfaces from these and other cards within a chassis can be connected to the PMC-650 to create network ready systems. The PMC-650 connects to the PCI bus for power only. It has no effect on the operation of the host PCI bus. No software driver is needed on the base cards.
