- The FM20L08 is a 128K x 8 nonvolatile memory that
reads and writes like a standard SRAM. A
ferroelectric random access memory or FRAM is
nonvolatile, which means that data is retained after
power is removed. It provides data retention for over
10 years while eliminating the reliability concerns,
functional disadvantages, and system design
complexities of battery-backed SRAM (BBSRAM).
Fast write timing and unlimited write endurance make
FRAM superior to other types of memory.

- The 2-wire interface is a widely used multi-master, multi-slave protocol using a serial clock (SCL) and a serial data line (SDA). Multiple memory devices can reside on the 2-wire bus by using the device select pins A0-A2 on selected parts. The 2-wire protocol is designed for multi-drop applications but is often used on point-to-point applications as well. Pin compatible with standard EEPROM and superior performance.
SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) memories are commonly used in point-to-point applications needing higher data rates than the 2-wire protocol can supply. Each SPI device has a chip select, allowing the other pins of the interface to be common when multiple SPI devices are needed. The serial input (SI) and serial output (SO) can be connected together to save pins on the host microcontroller.
